From Screened Porch to a Year-Round Sunroom and Deck Retreat
$50,000-$100,000 in 2022
This outdoor living project seamlessly transforms an existing screened porch into a year-round sunroom and adds a new deck that incorporates the existing patio. Designed to preserve the beautiful backyard view, the multi-zone retreat features custom details like nickel gap shiplap interior siding and integrated stair lighting to create the ultimate cohesive entertaining space.

A Cohesive Backyard Expansion
The homeowners' primary goal for this project was to convert their existing screened porch into a protected, year-round sunroom, while adding an open-air deck that naturally flowed down to their existing paved patio. A major priority was ensuring the new additions looked like a natural part of the original structure. To achieve this seamless integration, we mimicked the exact trim and skirting pattern (using 1x4 and 1x6 PVC) from the original porch around the entire perimeter of the new deck. Furthermore, the deck's elevation was carefully calculated to sit below the primary line of sight from inside the sunroom, ensuring the beautiful backyard view remained completely unobstructed.
Smart Design & Premium Finishes
The new outdoor platform was built using low-maintenance TimberTech Pro Terrain composite decking in Stone Ash, framed by white vinyl railings with sleek black round aluminum balusters. Wide, custom stairs were designed to smoothly direct guests from the deck down to the patio fire pit area. To enhance safety and nighttime ambiance, low-voltage post cap lights and riser lights were strategically integrated into the design.
Inside the newly converted sunroom, we elevated the aesthetics by replacing the original exterior vinyl siding with beautiful Nickel Gap Shiplap. With careful planning, the siding was purchased in specific lengths to minimize seams, resulting in only three butt joints throughout the entire room.
