A Multi-Phase Outdoor Retreat: Accessible Deck and Porch Expansion
$150,000-$200,000 in 2026
This multi-phase outdoor retreat in Midlothian's Powderham neighborhood features a custom handicap-accessible deck and a beautiful covered porch expansion. Built for a repeat client using premium TimberTech ProReserve decking in Driftwood and sleek black Impression rails, this two-part project perfectly blends inclusive design with high-end outdoor living.

Building a Dream Backyard in Midlothian's Powderham Neighborhood
There is no greater compliment for a contractor than a repeat customer! When these homeowners in the Powderham neighborhood of Midlothian were ready to upgrade their exterior, they called us back to execute a multi-phase outdoor living expansion. By breaking the project into two distinct parts—starting with an expansive custom deck and finishing a few years later with a stunning covered porch addition—we were able to build the ultimate backyard retreat tailored exactly to their needs.
Seamless Handicap Accessible Deck Design
A major priority for this outdoor living project was ensuring the space was completely handicap accessible without sacrificing the high-end aesthetic. We designed and built a custom accessibility ramp that flows naturally with the rest of the architecture, making it feel like an elegant, intentional extension of the deck rather than a utilitarian add-on.
To guarantee longevity and low maintenance, the entire structure was built using TimberTech ProReserve composite decking in the beautiful shade of Driftwood. We paired the decking with a sleek TimberTech Impression Rails System in black, providing strong safety barriers while preserving the unobstructed backyard views. To finish the foundation, we installed custom underdeck privacy skirting, concealing the framing and giving the entire base a clean, polished look from the ground up.
Covered Porch Addition Featuring James Hardie Siding
For the second phase of the project, the homeowners wanted to add a protected, shaded zone for year-round enjoyment. We seamlessly integrated a covered porch addition into the existing deck structure. To ensure the new architectural features flawlessly matched the rest of the home, we utilized premium James Hardie Siding. This high-quality exterior finish not only looks beautiful but offers unmatched durability against the elements. Together, the accessible deck and new covered porch create a highly functional, multi-seasonal outdoor retreat that this family can enjoy for decades to come.

I have already recommended Paragon to several neighbors and whenever I here of someone contemplating a project recommend the call Paragon before they decide on someone. After our first project we didn't even consider looking elsewhere. Every aspect of the job met or exceeded our exceptions. They communicated each step as to what and when things were happening as well as any changes as the project progressed. They couldn't have done a better job and were extremely neat in cleaning up each day. All aspects exceeded what we envisioned the finished product would be. When we have our next construction job, Paragon will be my first and last call.
