The original master bathroom in this Glen Allen home was dark, outdated, and lacked the functional storage the homeowners desperately needed. A bulky, unused bathtub took up valuable square footage, while the existing floor plan left the space feeling incredibly cramped. The clients had a distinct vision: they wanted to erase the clutter and replace it with an elegant, open, and inviting mid-century modern spa bath.

To achieve this, our team completely reimagined the footprint. We removed the unused tub to make way for a sprawling, luxurious walk-in shower and optimized the vanity layouts to create distinct, highly functional zones for both him and her. Before installing the new finishes, we also addressed a critical structural issue. The original slab had an expansion joint that caused the previous tile to crack. We applied a specialized decoupling membrane over the slab to ensure the beautiful new flooring would remain flawless for years to come.

To capture the warmth and sophistication of mid-century modern design, we selected Showplace Hickory cabinets in a rich, inviting Cognac finish. The natural wood grain of the hickory brings an earthy, grounding element to the room, beautifully contrasting with the lighter, contemporary tile selections.

Every detail in this space was curated to elevate the daily routine into a luxury experience. A major highlight of the new layout is the dedicated custom makeup station, complete with a hardwired lighted mirror for perfect illumination. To further enhance the spa atmosphere, we installed easy-to-reach, hardwired heated towel racks, ensuring a warm towel or robe is always ready. We even incorporated a seamlessly integrated Sonos speaker resting on a decorative floating shelf, allowing the homeowners' favorite relaxing playlists to stream directly into their private retreat.

The centerpiece of this relaxation haven is the newly expanded walk-in shower. By reclaiming the space from the old tub, we were able to design a massive shower enclosure that features a soothing rain can showerhead and stunning contemporary tiles with earthy prism accents.

For the surfaces, the homeowners chose gorgeous Aria Quartz, expertly sourced from Classic Granite. This durable, elegant stone was used not only for the vanity countertops but also to craft a custom shower bench, providing extra comfort and a cohesive design flow throughout the wet and dry areas of the room. The combination of high-end materials, thoughtful lighting, and superior craftsmanship truly makes this space easily confused for a 5-star hotel.
